All About the Aquinas Junior High School
Aquinas expanded its academic program to include 7th and 8th grades in September 2008. The inaugural classes boasted 167 AQJH students. Enrollment in September 2009 grew to 187 students. Ninety-nine percent of the first 8th-grade class continued on at AQ as 9th-graders.
The Aquinas Junior High School is located in the south wing of the third floor in our main building. The space has been renovated to accommodate the academic, spiritual, and social needs specific to seventh and eighth grade students.
AQJH academic and extra-curricular programs include the resources and facilities Aquinas currently has to offer. Common areas are carefully scheduled to ensure that junior high students have separate use of classroom, lunchroom, library and gymnasium facilities.
Seventh and eighth-grade students take New York State core curriculum courses in Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language and Religion. Co-curricular courses, including physical education, music, dance, drama, art and technology, further enhance the junior high school schedule. Advanced courses and the opportunity to earn high school credit are available when appropriate.
